Me and my mother have been walking just about every evening since the start of Covid-19. Walking is a great getaway and a great way to exercise. When my mom got the email to participate in the virtual run to support our military, I knew we had to do it. Not only would this be great way to exercise, but it would give us the opportunity to show our appreciation for all those who have chosen to sacrifice a life of comfort for a life of service. My brother is one of those people. Presently he is a Marine in training, so this run was also a great way to support him and encourage him. We sent him a picture of ourselves after the completion of our walk. We are very proud to be able to support such a great cause, but not only that we are proud to be the family of a present-day Marine.

Hike: 9.8 miles in 5.5 hours

5/24/2020
My son Connery Carroll started his journey on December 9, 2019. Halfway through he was injured and hurt his knee. Three months of Boot Camp has turned into six months. We are so very proud of him for continuing to follow his dream. Connery comes from a family of four. He is the oldest of three children. He has two beautiful sisters Courtnie 18 and Jessica 14. It was a strenuous hike and I enjoyed it with one of my hiking friends. The trail was amazing. It led me to find a secluded camping spot that I will be enjoying soon. The last bit on the way up was very hard for me and my friend. We were exhausted but continued to persevere to show our support for my new marine. So proud of you Connery. Go Fox!

Today I'd ran this 10K For all those Fallen Soldiers since is Memorial Day and also in Honor of all my fellow Semper Gumby MoMs. It's my first Military Appreciation Run. Never done a 10K run. As I almost finished the race my leg almost gave up on me. Then I thought of all the sacrifices our Military Men, & Women and their families do and I knew, the pain of my leg wasn't as bad. Thought of the MoMs, Like me who miss their sons daughters, it gave me courage to finish. OOOHHRAHH!

My oldest son is a Marine Infantry Officer and his girlfriend a Navy Helicopter pilot and our family wanted to participate together in this event to honor their selfless service but we are spread out across the country literally from CA to NC. So we picked a day and start time and all started together in our respective time zones. Some walked, some ran, and one did continuous pull ups because he is rehabbing an injury and cannot walk or run right now. When the last runner/walker/pull-upper ended, we had a big family Zoom call and connected, laughed and were grateful for the freedoms we enjoy today because of the selfless service of the men and women who have protected our country and fought for those freedoms through the generations. God Bless our Military, and God Bless America! The photo attached is me and my daughter at the end of our walk.
