If you didn’t secure your spot in the October 28 Marine Corps Marathon in Arlington, Virginia
and Washington D.C., you’re not alone – but fear not. You still can enter the 10-kilometer race
held the same day, which winds through the nation’s capital and ends at the Marine Corps War
Memorial in Rosslyn, Virginia.
Registration for the 10k begins April 4 at http://www.marinemarathon.com/Register.htm, so
consider getting a group together and running to benefit MarineParents.com, Inc., “a place to
connect and share”®. Choose a Marine Parents Outreach Program to support, and set your
fundraising goal. We suggest a minimum of $300 for individuals or $250 per team participant.
(i.e.: If you register as a three-person team and you each choose the minimum of $250, your team
goal would be $750 total).
After you have registered for your event, Click here to register as a Team Marine Parents™
participant. If you are participating in an event that is not listed, choose "New Event" in the drop
down menu on the online registration form and make sure to use the comment box to tell us the
details of your exciting event! After we receive your registration form, you will officially be a
member of Team Marine Parents™.
The 10k, in which runners must maintain a 15-minute-per-mile pace, begins at 8 a.m. on October
28 and runs parallel to the marathon.
For the 37th running of the Marine Corps Marathon, 30,000 entries were snapped up in 2 hours,
41 minutes, making it the fastest a U.S. marathon ever has sold out, according to RunningUSA.
